Knitting: FO Baby Blanket

Posted by llama  Published in Knitting

I started this last year and finally finished the baby blanket today.  I didn’t really have a baby in mind, but now I’ll be prepared when I need one.  I am also trying to finish up all of the half finished projects I have lying around, Organization will find me yet.

I also find having my ravelry site makes me want to complete things just to post them.

Knitting: Finished Zeeby’s bag

Posted by llama  Published in Knitting, crafts

I finished Zeeby’s Bag from the Stitch and Bitch book!  This was the first thing I tried to knit from the book when I got it (and the first thing I have ever knit from the book) and I just couldn’t do it for some reason.  I could never get the first few inches to be the correct length and I just took it out and started over and over again until I gave up.  I was also massively medicated from my accident, so who knows what the real status was.  I decided to try it again so I would have some practice sewing things together before I finished my Kyoto Kimono which I have completed all of the knitting but haven’t sewn it together yet.  I also wanted a bag to carry my knitting while I am out and this is big enough for  a sketchbook or knitting project.

The Kimono is cool and I am afraid to mess up the seaming after all of the hard work I put into the knitting.  M asked me what would make me feel like I was good at knitting and I said that completing the sweater (which R and I started years ago!) would be the thing.  I’m not sure it is, but it is improvement.  I actually feel pretty good about the bag.  It has a bit of a homemade feel, but that’s probably OK.  When I made my very cool batik shirt, no one ever notices, because they think I bought it at a store, so that whole, selfish, “I made it” part of creation gets ignored.  Vain, Vain, Vain.

Kimono: front left panel done

Posted by llama  Published in Knitting, crafts

Finished the front left panel and started the front right. Then blocking, assembly, and border.

My place was 89 degrees when I came home– down to 79 now, but sheesh!

Finished watching the rest of this season of Code Monkeys, some funny bits but not sure it is worth the effort. The Tivo is totally getting purged during the summer hiatus.

Sleeve #2 Finished

Posted by llama  Published in Knitting, crafts

I finished the second sleeve of the kimono sweater that I am working on. So I have the sash, back, and two sleeves complete.  Now I start on the front left and right.  Then assemble it all.

I am trying to have this complete  by Sept 19… we’ll see.

Cleaning goals and Tivo

Posted by llama  Published in Knitting, Tech Blog, cooking, crafts

You know, steriods have their uses OTHER than pro-ball.  They make me very effecient at cleaning.  My place, other folks’, I should rent myself out for some extra money.  Because I have so much extra energy and it is focused (I’m doing this rather than being angry at people, I hope) I accomplish so much more.

My other secret weapon is Tivo-to-go.  I can load my shows on my laptop and then put the laptop whereever I am cleaning and it makes the time go much faster.  Some shows I want to focus on the visuals, but some of them I just need occasional visuals.

I was going to try and complete all my filing and paperwork before I left but as I look at the pile over my shoulder, it is too much.  On the other hand, I have done a TON this week and I will soon reach my goals.

  • No papers that aren’t filed
  • Scan and recycle what I can
  • Get my craft area clean for crafting
  • Decide on a few key hobbies to FINISH projects in
    • Knitting (blanket, sweater)
    • Crafts - cards, jewelry (inventory, get rid of non-working items, take some classes)
    • Italian - get back into practice
    • Cooking - one new recipe a week
    • Photography - get rid of my Film camera and get a digital SLR with macro capabilities
    • (wow, and that is the shortened list)

Off to bed, and more items to prep for my trip tomorrow.

I was going to play bocce tomorrow for some practice, but the place was all booked after 3:30pm, fooey
